'You are beautiful, have a day much like yourself." Dayna Lovely

There is an importance to feeling loved,alive and beautiful. Every one of us in this world is important, loved, alive and beautiful. So often we forget. We wait for someone else to validate us and tell us that we are important, that we are lovable and that we are beautiful people. Don't wait for someone else to tell you. You are valuable just the way you are!!!!

"Tough times never last but tough people do." Robert Schuller

I've been in a rut. I've felt marred in my pain and in negative events. Each day I tell myself it will be better, but it hasn't been. So I decided to read Option B by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant to try to boost my resiliency skills. A quote really stuck with me.

Sheryl Sandberg states

"We plant the seed of resilience in the way we process negative events. After spending decades studying how people deal with setbacks, psychologist Martin Seligman found that three P's can stunt recovery;

1) Personalization - the belief they are at fault,

2) Pervasiveness - the belief that an event will affect all areas of our life, and

3) Permanence - the belief that the aftershocks of the event will last forever."

I wrote the three P's on a note card. Every time I felt my body telling me things were devastating I tried to apply one of these P's and remember that what was happening to me wasn't personal, pervasive or permanent.

Identifying that negative events aren't personal, pervasive or permanent will not make the sun shine over everything, but it may help lift the darkness a little so you can see the sun again.

"It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got."

Sheryl Crow

I had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with my hubby. We were planning a camping excursion - it was going to be my first camping attempt in years - but that got canceled when we realized camping is still too much for me. We had to stay home, but that didn't make the weekend any less awesome. In between walks with me and the dogs, my husband caught up on chores. We played our current favorite game on the Nintendo Switch, War Groove.

We had a few crazy adventures. We got lumber and fit 13 1x4s and 2 4x4s, each 8 feet long plus 4 bags of wood chips into my little VW beetle. Then the grand kitty that we're babysitting escaped once, leading us on a game of catch-me-if you-can.

We can only really be happy when we look at what we do have and not at what we don't. I might have lost a camping trip, but I gained a fun filled Memorial Day weekend at home with my doggies, my grand kitty and most of all my hubby.
