It's All In The Attitude

Having your husband say, "animals got into the trash you left outside," is not a great way to wake up in the morning. First, you have to kick yourself for leaving the trash outside because you couldn't get the gate open, and you were in too much pain to deal with it. Second, you have to anticipate picking up all that trash in the freezing rain. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention there was freezing rain that morning and my husband had to leave early for a meeting?

At times like these it is important to remember your attitude toward life influences your happiness, not what happens to you. Spending time going over all the things you could have done or should have done isn't going to help. Spending time wishing it was different isn't going to help. The outcome will be the same. When I let go of what I did wrong and what might be different and accept what is, it makes the clean up job easier and makes it go by faster.

There was no getting around the fact that I had to get the raincoat on and pick up all that trash, but it didn't take that long and then I had something to blog about!
