Kindness, Pay It Forward

"Be kind whenever possible and it is always possible." Dalai Lama

Yesterday I was supposed to get together with a friend. I was really looking forward to it, but a pain flare got in the way. I had to text my friend that I wasn't able to get together. I was disappointed, because I felt like I I was letting my friend down by canceling. Everyone says not to feel disappointed about canceling activities due to pain, but disappointment nonetheless creeps in. It was after I texted my friend that I was given a special kindness when not only did she say, "no worries," but she also sent me a picture of a leaping llama. My whole mood changed from a feeling of disappointment in myself to one of happiness. I was happy knowing I had a friend who really understood, and that made my life easier.

A Small Act of Kindness

This got me thinking of the power of one small kindness. One small act of kindness can turn a whole person's day around. It can turn more than one person's day around, though, because once that person feels lighter and happier they are more likely to spread kindness. Kindness can be paid forward and multiply. So, do one small kindness and spread happiness to many.
